In 2017, the Board of Directors decided to focus its funding activities primarily to the Austin Metropolitan area. In May, 2005, the Members of The Long Foundation established a Board of Directors to oversee the management of the Foundation. This was implemented in 2009, for the 2010 grant cycle. Because almost all of the Foundation's funding was being directed through the Lozano Long Promise Program, the management of The Long Foundation decided to remove the cumbersome name of the program, but keep its funding requirements and goals. Since its inception, The Lozano Long Promise to Texas Hispanic Youth Program has been the primary funding vehicle for the Foundation's grants. This dedicated program of the Foundation funded grants that seek to benefit Texas Hispanic youth. In January 2002, The Long Foundation announced its first major funding program, The Lozano Long Promise to Texas Hispanic Youth Program. Long Foundation for the Arts" to "The Long Foundation." In support of its broader purpose, in July 2001, the Foundation changed its name from "The Joe R. Its purpose shifted to include education in general (and the removal of barriers to education) as well as the visual and performing arts. Therefore, in April 2001, the Foundation began functioning as a private family foundation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. In 2001, the members of the Foundation determined that the Foundation's assets could have a more significant effect within the charitable community if its assets were dedicated to a more broadly based charitable use as opposed to being limited to the education about, and display of, art. For almost two years, the Foundation pursued this purpose. It was established as a private operating foundation for the purpose of collecting fine art, setting up an art museum, and educating the public about art. The Foundation was set up by Joe and Teresa Long as a nonprofit corporation run by its members. Long Foundation for the Arts, was established in 1999. I am so excited for this “Heroes” speaker to be released and look forward to many more collaborations with M&D that expand how we can better hear – and see – our favorite songs.The Long Foundation, which was originally known as The Joe R. Music is central to everything I do in life, and it has been a joy to partner with such a forward-thinking company focused on improving how we actually experience the music we love. When the idea was presented to us of working with Master & Dynamic to extend this artwork to one of their speakers, I was thrilled. It was an honor to work with his estate on the sound waves artwork of “Heroes” last year. Coming of age in the UK in the 70s and 80s, Bowie was a massive influence on what I wore, how I acted, and what I listened to. Soundwaves Art creates limited edition designs from audio soundwaves, which are sold to raise money for charities working across the world.
